Jin Lolirock concept style

Description

I was feeling a bit adventurous in trying a different art style today, so I went with the style Todesco used for lolirock's concept art as seen below. lolirock.wikia.com/wiki/File:B…

The character is my Jin Sasinmu.

This art style is mostly centered around bright colors, mildly non-bold sketchy lineart, big eyes with strictly circular features and a slender body with to-the-point shading and highlights (compare this to my other drawings if you would like).
Besides not using the sketchy lineart as the original concept, I hope I was close. Its a weird style tbh but I had fun with it! Will more than likely try this again later.

It was all done in Sai, took about 1 hour though I was off an on with it this entire Sunday.. (10 mins here....15 mins there)...

Here from Project comment! :)

Immediately when I look at this piece. I notice the hands. In fact, when people see a piece depicting a person, its common for the eyes to wander to the hands. You have to be courageous with this part! There are many great tutorials for mastering hands! I recommend taking a look and practicing :) mastering hands takes the artwork to a whole new level.

The hair, the basics are highlights, where light hits the hair, and with drawing, you're giving an illusion of depth. I notice the one band of light reflection. Add more. Looking at the flow of where the hair falls,  I can see several places; bangs, top of head, midlength, etc., where adding more hues and light reflection would make the hair appear to have more depth and detail!

I can see where you are trying, keep it up, and seek out those rurorials for hands and hair. There's always room for improvement, and it will really make this piece pop ;)

I hope you found this helpful, accepting critique can be hard, I know more than most,  but its the best for how artists like you and I fine tune our skillz to really knock out some beauties :)
